Grammy Award winning R&B and Jazz artist Patti Austin was recently named the new Spokesperson for Foundation for Social Change, an organization whose mission is to promote the act of “doing well by doing good”, providing programs and education to businesses and organizations that help promote the efforts of social change and innovation on a global scale.
As part of her new role, Ms. Austin will be involved in the 2011 Global Conference for Social Change and Women & Girls Education Summit to be held October 5-6 in New York City. In partnership with United Nations, the conference will host attendees from several Fortune 500 companies such as Citigroup, Microsoft, Nike, Dow Chemical, and more.
Already actively involved in other notable causes such as the Over My Shoulder Foundation and The Blue Movement, Ms. Austin’s choice to sign on with the Foundation for Social Change is a result of her love of the organization’s commitment of using technology to teach business and life skills to young girls and women around the world.
In addition to her appointment, Ms. Austin has also recently launched, “Patti’s House ”, a Social Musical Town Hall inspiring online, TV and live audiences to unite the world through their love of music.
It is always great to see legendary artists continue to create and be involved in worthy causes that make a difference not just nationally, but also globally. It sets the example that no one is ever too ‘established’ to be of service to others or to make a positive impact.
Congratulations to Patti Austin on her new role!
