Have you ever had a time in your life when others made you feel less than yourself? Where others talked harshly about you—or even to you? Have you ever encountered people that made you feel self-conscious about your appearance or personality, or that downplayed your talents and aspirations?
There are many people in life who do everything that they can to try to bring others down and make them feel as if they do not belong. There are any number of reasons why people behave this way towards others, but one thing that is certain is that the end results of such behavior can be very detrimental to a person’s self-esteem and confidence in themselves and their abilities.
This Music Mondays selection is for those out there who have ever dealt with someone telling you that you are not good enough. That your looks are not good enough, or that your style and what you do is not good enough. Those who have ever been in a room filled with people, yet still felt as if you were all alone due to the harsh stares, cruel whispers, and negative treatment from others. Those who have ever been teased, bullied, or otherwise made fun of or talked about. This song is for those who have ever experienced feelings of inadequacy or who have ever been made to feel that you do not matter.
People will always have access to your outer core—for the rest of your life you will run the risk of hearing or seeing someone attempting to break your spirit. However, remember that no one will ever have access to your inner core, which is comprised of your love for yourself, and your inner joy and peace. No one can tap into those things unless you allow them to.

Never give another person the power to make you feel less than the wonderful person that you are.

Yes mam, I have been there so many times I can’t even count them all. It used to truly bother me too. However, it’s been a journey to get where I am now, and I won’t let ANYONE take me back there. Sometimes, people think if they treat a person any kind of way, that individual will fall in line with their “rules and regulations”, just so they can fit in. The thing they don’t really understand is they might not have been the first to pull that trick on that person. That’s why it’s so incredibly important to know who we are and what it is we can offer. Not only that, but learn from every experience that comes to teach them who people truly are. If we don’t, then anyone could come along and do just as the first person did. Mariah said it best in this selection, “…they won’t succeed hanging clouds over me.” Those days are gone. Those that are trying should have caught me about five years ago; they might would’ve succeeded back then.

Greetings: Yes I agree that when you are at that place in your life where it seems as if everyone is trying their best to bring you down it can be a very troubling thing to deal with, and even harder to overcome. And then, even after you overcome, there are those who do everything in their power to pull you back there. You know what they say: ‘misery loves company’. This is why it is so very important for us to continuously remind ourselves of this fact and to declare often that we will not allow anyone or anything to strip us of the light of confidence that is inside of us or diminish our self-love. I love your powerful declaration of ‘never going back there’ –it is one that many others should adopt for themselves as well.
