I am a firm believer that motivation can be found anywhere. The places and things that seem to be the least likely, the people that are most unexpected, are the very ways which motivation is oftentimes discovered the most.
When you think of the London Olympics Athletes, usually you only envision their talent and abilities; their age or their home country. Rarely is there a thought of their lives beyond that—the “story behind the glory” of all of the hardships and trials, the physical and emotional stress that it took to get them to their ‘one shining moment’ known as the Summer Olympics. In most cases, we have already chosen our favorites we want the gold medals to go to, not really concerning ourselves about any others.
However, there can be great treasure in taking a closer look at not just your favorite London Olympics athletes, but all of them. You would be surprised—and amazed—at what you discover about their journeys. Many of the athletes are examples of great inner strength, amazing drive, determination, courage and faith. Without even trying, they serve as true torchbearers of inspiration and hope.
2 great examples of this are Track and Field Athlete LoLo Jones and Cycling athlete Evelyn Stevens. Both hit some pretty rough patches in their road to the Olympics. Yet despite unfortunate events, they stayed motivated and did not let obstacles stop them from continuing to press towards their dreams. They never surrendered to the pressure. They never gave up trying.
Here are their stories
LoLo Jones: Track and Field
Evelyn Stevens: Cycling
Obstacles may try to block you, but don’t you dare let them stop you
Life is no crystal stair, and when you get a goal set in your mind to achieve, it becomes even harder. But never allow stumbling blocks to keep you from achieving your goals. Motivate yourself to continue striving no matter what. It may not be easy, but if you hang in there and press your way through the hard times, before you know it you will be in the place you desire to be.
