We can get caught up in looking back on the past a lot; replaying events over and over again in our minds. Even if it is something that took place a few seconds ago, we still dwell on it.
I have had plenty to happen to me in my short little time of being here on this earth—and believe me when I say that something happens that ruffles my feathers every single day—sometimes several times a day. Yet with each occurrence I know that looking back on it will not help me any. If I really want to resolve it in my heart and mind, I have to get the lesson out of it as quickly as I can and move on.
Why am I saying this?
Yes it may have hurt, and yes it may have bothered you—it may have taken your day, week, or even your life off course a bit. But you must remember that there is no such thing as rewinding the hands of time. It is what it is, and there is nothing that you can do to change anything that is already behind you. But you can turn it around for your good by moving forward.
When you constantly look back, you cheat your present and future out of their full potential.
In order to let it go and keep going in life, you need to commit to keeping your full focus on what is here now and what is to come. True winners do not dwell in the past, stay stagnant, or allow one thing (or even a number of things) to keep them off track. True winners take blow after blow; knowing that with each blow and with each time they rise back up, they are closer to achieving what they set out to accomplish. With each step forward, they are securing their win.
And as long as you don’t look back and keep looking ahead, you are guaranteed to win, too. :)
