The Avengers DVD release is something that my family and I have been extremely excited about for a long time! The moment we saw the Marvel movie in theaters during opening weekend, we knew that it was one that we wanted to add to our video collection.

In fact, the whole family is so hyped about the Avengers movie DVD release that we decided to have a special family fun night to celebrate!

I decided that the best place to go pick up supplies and food for the special night would be Walmart. But not just any regular shopping—a shopping experience that would be enhanced by downloading the Avengers Augmented Reality App before we left home!

Downloading the Avengers Augmented Reality App allowed me to bring the Avengers experience to life by using special trigger points located throughout Walmart to activate trivia questions, interactive games, and much more.

My boys and I headed to Walmart for some shopping fun!

The first thing that I noticed was the promotion sign right at the front door. My youngest son was so excited to see it that he wanted to take a picture in front of it (he REALLY loves the Marvel Super Heroes!)

The first stop was food. Checking out the Marketplace deli in Walmart I noticed that they had special Avengers-themed boxes for their extra-large pizzas. Just perfect for our family fun night!

I was glad that they had Captain America, since that is my oldest son’s favorite Super Hero!

The sign and the pizza box were trigger points for the Augmented Reality App, and we took a few moments to activate them to enjoy the games and try to unlock the characters.

Having great luck with the pizza, I decided to look around the rest of the deli to see what else I could find for the evening. I came across some real treasures for the family to make specially-themed treats!

After picking up other food items, I then headed to the apparel. Although there was no special displays for the Avengers, I was able to search and find shirts for both my boys to wear.

Unfortunately I did not have the same luck with getting something for my 10 year-old daughter, as Walmart did not have any Avengers movie apparel or jewelry of any kind for girls. The very same applied in the Halloween section.

Speaking of the Halloween section, I checked there and was surprised to find that, in addition to having nothing at all Avengers-themed for girls, there were also no Avengers movie costumes for any sizes under size 6, which is a real bummer for parents with children in smaller sizes.

I can say, however that the Avengers costumes and props are very reasonably priced—which is a good thing (In fact, I may revisit this area later for Halloween time ).

The Avenger toys however, were a much different story. Most of the toys that were one display were kinda on the pricey side. Luckily, we found these action figures that were much lower. There we also found more trigger points to use with the Augmented Reality App, which made for a fun experience for the boys.

From there, we were all set! The only other items needed were decorations and materials to make crafts for the evening.

Once home, the fun began! We decided to have everyone make their own mask of their favorite Super Hero. It was a lot of fun!

We incorporated the Avengers movie in every way that we could think of for the food! It was really great sharing creative ideas and excitement during the evening!

We made punch to represent the colors of each Avenger Super Hero, and we even attempted to make a replica of the Avengers ship out of cupcakes!

It was a lot of fun–we did our best! LOL

The greatest part of the night for me was presenting my kids with their own exclusive edition Marvel Graphic Novel. They absolutely loved it and were so amazed by the detail of the illustrations inside!

Our Avengers DVD release celebration was a success! I cannot wait until tomorrow for the Blu-Ray/DVD Release Graphic Novel Combo Pack to be available at Walmart! I plan to buy it to give the second Novel to my daughter in college as a gift when we visit her for Family Day since she missed out on all of the fun!
