Recap: Sights and Sounds Of The White House Tree Lighting Ceremony [VIDEO]

Actor Neil Patrick Harris welcomed the Obamas on stage shortly before 6 pm as host of the annual White House tree lighting ceremony on the Ellipse in Washington last night.

After lighting the tree and shouting “Merry Christmas” to the joyful crowd, the family left the stage to sit in the audience where actor Rico Rodriguez, from Modern Family, joined them.

The White House Tree Lighting ceremony also featured performances by Jason Mraz, Ledisi, James Taylor, Kenny “Babyface” Edmonds, Colbie Caillat and  American Idol season 11 winner Phillip Phillips.
