Author Steve Shenk takes us on a mystical journey to life success with his book “It’s Not Your Fault: Secrets To Finding The Magnificence In Your Life.” A philosopher and educator, Shenk breaks away from the traditional deliveries of self-awareness books, and instead gives the reader a front-row seat to special interaction between two people: a man by the name of Michael, and his mentor, who in the book is referred to as ‘The Guardian.’
.It’s Not Your Fault By Steve Shenk
Keeping a philosophical approach, the character ‘Michael’ represents us (the reader), while ‘The Guardian’ represents the personification of a higher intelligence.
Through reading (ie: following along) with the pair’s series of conversations, I picked up some surprising revelations about my own life, and also some steps I could use to put better practices into use.
The one thing I love about “It’s Not Your Fault” is how empowering it is. Each chapter addresses many of the lies and misconceptions that we tell ourselves, and provides—through the conversations between Michael and The Guardian—a different (and much better) perspective. Battles of the mind, body, and spirit such as letting go of the past, self-image, judgment and approval, and failure are all dealt with head-on in the journey of the book. There are examples used, and even some personal exercises that The Guardian has Michael to do that readers can do as well.
Overall, “It’s Not Your Fault” is a book that is thought-provoking and deep, no doubt. However, the depth and magnitude of the inspiring and life-changing treasures shared within are well worth the read.

I’d have to say my greatest inspiration is my late cockatiel friend, Darlin’. She had an amazing resilience and zeal about her which continues to move through me even though she’s gone from Earth.
